But economist Professor Gift Mugano is warning that this could be just a waste of time as these countries have made it clear that they need money upfront as the country's electricity company ZESA has been struggling to pay its foreign debts for many years.
Mr Mnangagwa has announced these efforts in the words he has written in the Sunday Mail newspaper as he does every week. ZESA made an agreement with Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation Limited, ZESCO and ZESA must pay $6.3 million per month.
Zambia's Minister of Energy, Peter Kapala, told reporters that the electricity they are selling to Zimbabwe and Namibia is coming from the Kafue Gorge plant.
ZESA also says it has signed an agreement to buy 300 megawatts of electricity with Hydro Cahora Bassa of Mozambique.
The chairman of ZESA Mr Sydney Gata announced in a letter to the executives of the mining companies that he will no longer be able to supply them with electricity as his company is unable to pay its debts to South Africa, Zambia and Mozambique.
ZESA needs about US$ 17 million per month to purchase electricity.
People and companies in the country are said to owe ZESA US$62 million.
